These unsigned tiles are made from the remaining clay, cut aways, trimmings and edits from other studio object production for current and past exhibitions. While the process used is usually a way to recycle material for re-use and process left over clay, these objects instead are left to dry, minimally handled, cut and taken through the firing process.. Fired using similar materials to ongoing studio investigations, these slabs operate as surface and material layering tests. While I call them “tiles” they are larger (see dimensions) and much heavier. I see these pieces as leaning objects on shelves or flat objects on table surfaces as they were created. Wall mounting may work on some, but I would proceed with caution.
